ATTENTION: The codebase and stylesheets are currently being updated. This may cause downtimes over the next few weeks. Apologies for any inconvenience caused! (Birgit Kellner, 25 January 2009)

The Indian Logic Knowledge Base (ILKB) presents information on technical terms from classical Indian logic on the basis of primary sources. Text passages which present definitions or explanations are given both in the original Sanskrit and in English translation.

This website is optimized for use with Firefox (latest tested version 2.0.0.1), and it should also work with Internet Explorer (4.0 and above), as well as with other CSS-compliant browsers. Javascript is required for some functionality.

Sanskrit text is currently offered in romanized form, based on the ALA-LC Romanization Tables (click here for the Sanskrit table in PDF format).

Please set your Browser to the encoding "Unicode (UTF-8)" to view Sanskrit text properly. To see all of the diacritical characters used, a font must be installed on your computer that contains the required Unicode character ranges, such as Andrew Glass' freely available Gandhari Unicode TrueType font, or Microsoft's Arial Unicode MS. For further related information, also about other fonts, please visit the Unicode Diacritic Fonts page at the Tibetan & Himalaya Digital Library (Univ. of Virginia).

Click here for background information on this project.

Please use the links in the menu to the left to search our browse the data, or display hierarchical semantic relationships based on one particular text through the dropdown lists below.

Some parts of the user interface, as well as the data, are still under development. All error messages are recorded, and will be dealt with as soon as we can. Please be patient. The system log reports what's happening :-)

Suggestions, corrections and comments are welcome.
