The search for the expression entered in "Search Term" can be restricted here.
If, e.g., the expression "sarada" is searched within "All Categories" the search will not only return accession numbers of manuscripts, where the Script "Śāradā" is used, but also accession numbers of manuscripts, where the word "śāradā" is used in the Namaskāra Phrase (like in "śāradāyai namaḥ").
By specifying the category "Script" only accession numbers of manuscripts, where the script is Śāradā, would be shown in the result.
By selecting one of the main categories the subordinated categories are also searched. Subordinated categories are marked by an indent in the selection field.
If, e.g., the expression "sarada" is entered in "Search Term" and the "Search Category" "Physical Characteristics of Manuscripts" is selected the search function will produce accession numbers of manuscripts, where Śāradā is the "Script" of the manuscript and the "Script of Changes and Additions to the Text".
If no expression is entered in the field "Search Term" all entries for the selected categories are shown.
Currently the information in note fields, in references fields and in the bibliography are not included in the search function
Further development of the database will allow a combination of search categories, a exclusion of search categories and the search for categories where no information is given.
